The Different Uses of Diamonds

By Paul Easton

Many times a diamond is known for its sparkle rather than what it could be used for. It does have its practical side and has many other uses as well as making your lady happy.Lets look into some of the facts behind it:

The diamond is the hardest natural substance known to man, produced by eons of high pressure and temperature extremes inside the earth.

What is a simple carbon atom is transformed a complex crystalline lattice structure which has a lot of top-notched qualities that include durability, being chemically resistant, its light dispersion and refraction properties, as well as its abilities to scratch metals.

That is why the diamond one of the best known and most sought after precious gem.

What we mostly know about the diamond today is what we have learned through advertising and the movie industry. In the jewelry industry, diamonds are the most popular, making more money than all the other gemstones combined. Part of its popularity is because of its high luster qualities, a natural property of the diamond that is enhanced by the expertise of a diamond cutter.

Diamonds in the jewelry business are most popularly used in engagement or wedding rings, although it has been used in many other jewelry forms as well. Diamonds are usually set in metals that emphasize its natural beauty and sparkle, most common of which are white gold, yellow gold and platinum.

But diamonds have other practical uses as well. Actually, more of these gems are used in industrial applications, rather than in the jewelry making business, as not a lot of natural diamonds found in mines are suitable as gemstones. Synthetic diamonds, or those that are man-made in a laboratory, are also produced to meet the demands of industrial use. These uses are mainly the following:

- cutting and grinding tools such as drill bits and saws

- abrasives that cut and polish other materials, including other gemstones

- fine engraving tools with detailed precision

- coatings for files

- semiconductor coatings and materials for microchips and computer processors.

- laser components for precise and durable optical equipment

- windows that are used to cover openings of lasers, x-rays and vacuum chambers

- speaker domes that enhance the performance of high quality speakers

- heat sinks to conduct heat away from sensitive parts of high performance microelectronics

- low friction micro-bearings placed in tiny mechanical devices like watches

It looks like the diamond is here to stay forever. And who knows what other uses it can be designed for in the future. With increasing research and synthetic production, innovative companies might be able to further expand the use of the diamond in the fields of medical care, particularly that of prosthetics and surgery, in computer technology, acoustic and communication instrumentation, and others. Given that it seems that the diamond will endure until the end of time, mankind has no choice but to take this brilliant and durable stone on its historic journey.

Rowing Workout For Instant Fat Loss and Conditioning

By Caleb Lee

If you aim to count the calories and lose fat in no time while improving your anaerobic, aerobics and whole staying power but then you're sick to the back teeth of running the whole time therefore you're going to have a thing about this article in relation to rowing.

Yesterday I did another one of my rowing training on the rowing machine at the gym and boy did it kick my ass " FOR A SECOND TIME! This article will inform you all about rowing for exercise, why you must do it, and the most efficient way to execute rowing exercises to lose fat in no time

What's Rowing?

Rowing is a workout where you get on a machine with a handle connected to a cable of some type and you position your feet in straps. You subsequently row by pulling the cable backwards towards your chest as you thrust with through your heels (like a squat movement). The seat you sit on moves towards the back then you can push yourself away.

Why Should You Row?

When most people think of cardio training they only think of running. Running is breathtaking and all that, but then again, I get tired of it after a short while. I definitely cant stand long slow steady state cardio at any rate, and any time I run I do perform sprint interval training.

But rowing is a great exercise because it is more upper body dominant, and will give you a break from traditional cardio exercises like running, bicycling, etc.

Its one of the few cardio exercises too that reaches all the main muscle groups, counting quads, biceps, triceps, lats, glutes and abs.

Its great for your cardiovascular conditioning, and you can easily do interval training on it because you can adjust both the resistance level of the row, and you can vary your speed easily (like on a bicycle).

How Should You Row For Maximum Fat Loss?

Here's the training I did yesterday and the one you have to give it a go if you're in good shape and want to nuke some body fat off swiftly. It only takes FIVE to SIX minutes, but I assure you you'll know you had an awesome workout!

Here's how to execute it:

* Row at a steady pace for 1-2 minutes to warm up

* Work Interval: At the minute mark Row as powerful and promptly as you can for 20 seconds

* Rest Interval: Row at your warm up time for 10 seconds

* Do again your work/rest interval 8 more times

* You're through!

Now's the time to get to your feet, tell your heart its NOT going to break through your chest and if it comes to the crunch, you may need to spew. By round 6, 7 and 8 you're going to REALLY be out of breath and think you cant endure (this is if you're really rowing as intense and quickly as you can during your work intervals)

In spite of this stick it out " you wont be going that fast in your last couple rounds but the important part is Amount of effort in short you are MAKING AN EFFORT to row as quickly and as intense as you can (though you can only handle an average speed).

Whats So Great About This Workout?

This is the well-known tabata procedure. Researchers discovered that people who took pleasure in the routine five days a week for six weeks developed their full aerobic capacity by 14% GOOD THING, they also increased anaerobic capacity by 28%.

In addition, scientists observed the people behind the tabata protocol burned 9 TIMES MORE FAT than a group that trained for an hour a day (performing steady-state aerobics). And your metabolism stays revved up and burns more fat up until 48 hours after the Tabata protocol.

When Should You Do This Workout?

Try it on your rest days. You can alternate a cardio workout of sprints and a cardio workout like this with rowing to keep your body from adapting and for variety in your cardio routines. If you're following the DoubleYourGains 3-5 program you'll have 2-3 rest days per week. You could do this rowing routine on one rest day and a different cardio routine on the other to keep it fresh or just do this routine on both days, its your choice.

You'll get a better feel for how regularly you can do this routine and still get well once you've done it a few times. So get out there and try it these days!

Break Up Pain -- Survival Skills in Dealing with Break Up Pain

By Allie Arensen

It's never easy to deal with a break up. Heartbreaks are not something you "manage." It is not uncommon to carry a torch for your ex. Often that is part of a process, like grieving. But it does indicate that you view the relationship as having passed on.

When it comes to dealing with a broken intimate relationship, it is important that you look past the pain (which is your heart talking -- and the heart is all emotions) and find a way to survive even when things seem impossible for the time being (which is your logical mind talking to you).

Going through a break up causes all kinds of feelings to manifest themselves. It is a very important time to talk things out with a trusted friend or family member. Talking is a natural release of feelings that is healthy. Not releasing feelings through talking causes them to grow and build.

Dealing with heartache in a healthy way is the way to survive the feelings and continue on with your life in a constructive way. This talking things out should be done soon after the break up, not months or years afterward.

Another benefit of talking it out, is you will find you are not the first person, nor will you be the last, that has suffered the feelings you feel. There is a healing quality when two friends share stories of their similar experiences -- be they strengths OR weaknesses. It is bonding and cathartic.

Dwelling on the painful split from your lover will not help you, so instead you should work on getting better and moving on, which will allow you to stop dealing with break up pain and start dealing with moving on and finding someone new, perhaps even someone that has a better dynamic with you.

* Don't isolate yourself. Spend time with friends and talk about your feelings

* Don't dwell on the bad feelings, but focus on the good parts of your life in order to promote healing.

Your friends will probably realize that you're going through something serious, and they will more than likely dedicate themselves to trying to help you through the break up pain. If this is the case, don't blow them off, because going out and spending time with your friends and the people that you care about will be extremely helpful.

Everyone goes through a period where they are dealing with break up pain, because everyone goes through a breakup. Rather than allow yourself to suffer while dealing with breaking up pain, what you should do is enjoy yourself and work on healing rather than allowing yourself to become stressed out, overwhelmed or depressed by your heartbreak.
