No matter what body type you have, it's likely that you've been frustrated at times by clothes shopping. It may seem as though some days, everything on the rack is there for someone who is taller than you, bigger than you, smaller than you, better endowed than you, and so on. Even if you can find something that technically fits, perhaps it just doesn't feel all that comfortable on you.
In truth, many fashion designers simply make clothes that look great on those size zero or a tall thin model. Then, they increase or decrease that size without changing to account for different body shapes. This may mean that it's near impossible for most of us to find something that fits. But there are many different ways you can dress for your body shape. You just need to know a few simple things that will help you look good too.
When you think about getting dressed in the morning, think for a minute about the favorite part of your body. Do you have great legs? Do you have a small waist or a great bust line?
Finding the right fashions to flatter your favourite body part will go a long way towards making you look great and also boosting your confidence.
Don't be afraid to use colour. Look for colours that go with your skin and that you really like. Don't shy away from colours that you think might call attention to you. With confidence, you can probably wear just about any colour you might want to.
When you're dressing to suit your particular body type, think for a moment about where both top and bottom hems are going to fall. Where a hem falls is automatically going to draw focus and attention to that area. If your legs are lovely, think about wearing shorter skirts and shorts.
While if you have long, relatively thin legs, flatter them with bottoms that cut off around mid-shin. Take some time to consider what you want to emphasise before you head to the clothing store. Do this and you'll find it so much easier to find the perfect styles for you that will look great.
When shopping, remember that you don't want to conceal as much as you want to accentuate. Instead of hiding a part of your body that you're not comfortable with, consider accentuating what you do find attractive. And remember that the clothing you get should fit you well but not be baggy or tight.
You can also take heart in the fact that slowly but surely, the fashion industry is learning that people who are not shaped like models do, in fact, have money to spend.
Be patient, and remember to never buy anything that is simply "good enough." Hold out for something that will make you look terrific.
